The 6.25 Movement, in collaboration with Sankofa, will host the first installment of our Politics of Uganda series this Saturday. The goal of this series is to create a deeper understanding of Uganda’s political landscape and how it came to be what it is today. Through this conversation, we will examine the historical, political, and structural frameworks that have shaped Uganda over time and contributed to the emergence of the authoritarian governance the country experiences today.
By exploring Uganda’s pre-colonial political systems, the impact of colonial rule, post-independence power struggles, and the evolution of state institutions, the series seeks to provide a thoughtful and critical lens through which participants can understand the roots of power, governance, and resistance in Uganda. This conversation is not only about Uganda, but about understanding how historical decisions, political structures, and external influences shape nations and their political trajectories.
